The north stays in the details
A boat in Borgholm, a bicycle beneath a window, the rhythm of thatched roofs in Kåseberga. I put these photographs together because they show different scales of travel. There is open space, and there are familiar, ordinary things. They make it easier to imagine someone’s life.
By the shore
In the Borgholm photographs, light meets masts, hulls and their reflections. I like that arrangement of lines. Even when the sky catches the eye first, there is a path back to the water.
Small signs of presence
A bicycle under a window can make an empty frame feel inhabited. Those small clues interest me in photographs of houses. Someone is out of sight, but has left a trace.
Three different rhythms
A waterfall, a lake and the entrance to a turf hut in Abisko. Each asks to be viewed differently. I place them together so the force of water, a still surface and the texture of wood can change the pace of looking.
